The President is VUSAC's leader. They are responsible for shaping the goals of VUSAC, supporting the rest of the council with their events and initiatives, and representing VUSAC more largely at the University of Toronto.

The Vice-President External is the connection between VUSAC and outside governing bodies. They liaison with the Dean's Office, governing bodies, the University of Toronto Students' Union, and more.

Goals for VUSAC: I have run for election to the VUSAC for the past three years because I want to make a positive impact on my community. Since the beginning of my first year, I have always felt that Victoria College was that safe place on campus for me where I could be productive, meet new people, and participate in the fun programming that is always going on. Having benefitted in these ways from the Vic community, I feel obligated to do my part to make this community and the university experience better for current and incoming students in whatever way I can, and to me, VUSAC is the best way to do that.

Kate Haberl, Vice-President Student Organizations

The Vice-President Student Organizations is the main point of contact for all of the clubs and levies. They work to ensure their needs are met and that they meet VUSAC's standards.

Goals for VUSAC: making sure absolutely everyone knows about our clubs & levies and has opportunities to get involved, that we hold the Vic & U of T administrations accountable, and that (in my own small way) I improve other students' university experiences!

The Vice-President Internal maintains the structure and wellbeing of the council and the office. In addition, they set the rules for the office and its culture.

Goals for VUSAC: As VPI, my main goal is to support the rest of council to the best of my abilities. I want VUSAC to be an integral part of students' experiences while at Vic, and I hope we can bring our A game after the past few uncertain years.

The Commuter Commissioner promotes the inclusion and integration of commuters at Vic. Their key events and services include weekly pancake brunches, locker rentals, and Home for the Holidays.

Fun Fact: I've been to six concerts so far this year and am planning on going to at least three more :)
Goals for VUSAC: I joined VUSAC because I want to continue building community at Vic through different programming and events (Woo! Pancakes!). I also want to increase collaboration with different student groups on campus. My goal is to advocate for commuters, but also all students' needs.

Diana VinkEquity Commissioner

The Equity Commissioner advocates for equity issues on campus and helps ensure that Vic students are educated on equity. Their key events and services include Art at the Intersections and Doc n' Talks.

Goals for VUSAC: I want to ensure that Vic students are being heard-- creating transparency within the university by listening and presenting student voices and concerns, and distributing resources to folks who may need them. My main goal is to listen; I want to speak on behalf of the Vic student body, not over or around them.

The Arts and Culture Commissioner connects students with artistic opportunities and exposes the larger Toronto art scene. Their key events include the Gardiner Gala and The Bob Sketch Comedy Revue.

Julie Seeger, Mental Wellness Commissioner

The Mental Wellness Commissioner advocates for improved mental wellness services for Vic students and provides them with resources on and off-campus. Their key events and services include the Resource Guide, Exam Destressers, and DIY Self-Care Kits.

Goals for VUSAC: Vic has been my home for the past three years, and I wish to give back to the community that has welcomed me so kindly. My personal mental health journey has taught me the importance of taking responsibility over my own actions and being proactive when it comes to my health. I am excited to build a culture around daily wellness and encourage students to take charge of their own mental health.

I believe that taking time for ourselves & our mental well-being is critical as we continue to grow; I aim to promote these ideas throughout VUSAC & the Vic community.

Amy Mann, Sustainability Commissioner

The Sustainability Commissioner educates Vic students on sustainability issues and lobbies for better sustainable practices on campus. Their key events and services include Environmental Equity Week and Doc n' Talks.

Fun Fact: I once stood on one foot for an hour (I do not recommend).

Goals for VUSAC: I am on VUSAC because I believe that students should have access to facilities and programming that not just allow but incentivize sustainable decisions. My goals include passing a sustainability policy, pushing Vic administration to divest from fossil fuels, auditing Burwash dining hall’s food waste, creating spaces for students to receive support regarding eco-anxiety, and holding public lectures. Fun Fact: I have a rabbit named Veronica who refuses to eat carrots but will kill for a banana. Yes, we are sure she is a rabbit.

Goals for VUSAC: I’m on VUSAC because I have too many ideas and not enough free time or individual power to do everything alone. My primary goal is to ensure that Vic pledges to divest from fossil fuels as soon as possible.

Thomas Keough , Finance Chair 

 

The Finance Chair is responsible for steering budget and allocating funding at VUSAC and its commissions, clubs, and levies. They are the main contact point for all of VUSAC finances, which they oversee.

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for advertising and promoting all of VUSAC activities, events, programming, and advocacy through its social media, website, and newsletters.

Goals for VUSAC: I was rather detached from Vic during my first year, especially because I lived off-campus. It took me a while to assimilate myself into the community, and the more I learn about Vic, the more there is to love! I'm eager to put forward lots of fun projects to encourage inclusivity through our office.

Pooja Ajit, Chief Returning Officer

 

The Chief Returning Officer supervises fall and spring elections and ensure they are run fairly and democratically, according to the Elections and Referenda Code. They promote elections and host election-specific events for students and candidates.

Goals for VUSAC: I wanted to get more involved with Victoria College and my goal is to increase engagement with the CRO page and elections. I think joining VUSAC is a great way to get to know people at Vic while also contributing.

Councillors

Councillors assist with the portfolios of our commissioners and/or executives. They are assigned to these portfolios depending on their interests and where they'd like to contribute. They can also spearhead their own initiatives and sit on a variety of committees. It's one of the most versatile positions on council and a great way to get involved!

These positions are elected in the Fall, with 3 spots reserved for first-years, 3 spots reserved for upper-years, and 1 spot reserved specifically for an international student.

International Councillor

 

The International Councillor is elected separately from the other eight Councillors. They are assigned to the portfolio of the Vice-President External and work on advocating for and engaging with Vic's international students.
