Feel like something is missing from Vic? Have an awesome idea but lack the capital to make it a reality?
The Student Projects Fund is a levy with almost $80,000 to support student initiatives that will improve the Victoria College student experience and/or any other aspects of the Victoria College community. Each Victoria College student pays $10 into the Fund annually as part of their Student Society fees, the result of a referendum passed in the spring of 2000. Any Victoria College student can apply with an idea – whether it is an event, an item or a new club. Over the years students have come to Student Projects and started something amazing.
The following are just a few of the projects that have been created thanks to funding provided by Student Projects:
- Air hockey table for the Cat’s Eye
- 2013/14 Sustainability Conference
- Red Ink Magazine
- Victor, our beloved Victoria College mascot
- The bi-annual wine & cheese symposiums with Professor Gooch
- The Goose, Vic’s short-story compilation journal
The Student Projects Fund is a unique aspect of Victoria College; almost no other schools have something similar. You can apply for funding for all kinds of projects, and all you have to do is fill out an application! If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail the Chairperson of the Student Projects Fund at firstname.lastname@example.org. Or, check out the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/studentprojectsvic.
